It has been a while since I have written anything and even longer since I have written anything of substance. There are a few reasons for this, two of which come immediately to mind. Apparently my Ph.D. did not make me smart enough not to leave my MacBook Air at the TSA check point at JFK. And, I am on vacation right now so I am busy with diving, meditating, and trying new things. Trying new things today means trying different types of Rum. (I have already worked my way through the affordable Scotches.)
So, you may be asking yourself, “Meditating, what’s that about?” And, “How does someone that takes meditation so seriously as to do so on vacation reconcile that with what is starting to sound like a propensity for drinking. (For some crazy reason this reminds me of a line by Tevye, from the opening scene of Fiddler on the Roof. “You may ask how did this tradition start. I’ll tell you – I don’t know.”) I would respond that it is exactly that I take meditation seriously that I am so un-serious about most everything else, to include my feeble attempts at enlightenment.
So, if you happen to be in Dominica or Barbados in the next few days and spot some cat sitting alone typing on his Macbook Air (yup, I got it back) wearing an OD green or khaki t-shirt (limited wardrobe), its most likely me and I got the next round.

Hi John,
I noticed you had a website listed on the meditation app I’ve been talking to you on. I like your ramblings, and the information you have posted. I found the comment about enlightenment very Amusing, I feel like I’m on the same journey. I hope you had a good time on vacation. 🙂
